چکیده
Abstract We demonstrate the distance sensitivity of thermal light second-order interference beyond spatial coherence. This kind interference, emerging from measurement correlation between intensity fluctuations on two detectors, is sensitive to distances separating a remote mask source and detector, even when such information cannot be retrieved by first-order measurements. show how intimately connected degree measured pattern in different experimental scenarios independently spectral properties light. Remarkably, specific configurations, objects can preserved presence turbulence. Unlike previous schemes, reflected fundamental emergence new critical parameters which benchmark correlation, describing counterintuitive not only absence (first-order) coherence at both detectors but also observed one detectors.

Spatial coherence effects on second- and fourth-order temporal interference.
We report the results of two experiments performed with two-photon light, produced via collinear degenerate optical spontaneous parametric downconversion (SPDC), in which both second-order (one-photon) and fourth-order (two-photon) interferograms are recorded in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI). In the first experiment, high-visibility fringes are obtained for both the second- and fourth-ord...
متن کاملA new clock synchronization scheme based on the second-order coherence of thermal light
A novel thermal light based scheme utilizing the second-order coherence is proposed for ultra-high accuracy synchronization of two distant clocks. By using two-photon absorption, which involves an almost simultaneous absorption of two photons within a maximum delay given by the Heisenberg principle, the second-order coherence at a femtosecond scale for a real thermal source has been observed (B...
متن کاملThe first- and second-order temporal interference between thermal and laser light.
The first- and second-order temporal interference between two independent thermal and laser light beams is discussed by employing the superposition principle in Feynman's path integral theory. It is concluded that the first-order temporal interference pattern can not be observed by superposing two independent thermal and laser light beams, while the second-order temporal interference pattern ca...
متن کاملTemporal second-order coherence function for displaced-squeezed thermal states
We calculate the quantum mechanical, temporal second-order coherence function for a single-mode, degenerate parametric amplifier for a system in the Gaussian state, viz. a displaced– squeezed thermal state. The calculation involves first dynamical generation at time t of the Gaussian state from an initial thermal state and subsequent measurements of two photons a time τ ≥ 0 apart. The generatio...
متن کاملSecond order sensitivity analysis for shape optimization of continuum structures
This study focuses on the optimization of the plane structure. Sequential quadratic programming (SQP) will be utilized, which is one of the most efficient methods for solving nonlinearly constrained optimization problems. A new formulation for the second order sensitivity analysis of the two-dimensional finite element will be developed. All the second order required derivatives will be calculat...
